Cascade Collaborative Ministry
The Cascade Collaborative Ministry serves the spirits, lives and minds of families in need, including homeless families. We ful#ll this mission by serving the homeless at the Peachtree and Pine Street Shelter; providing clothing for those in need through our Clothes Closet; and supporting area children through the Koats for Kids, Angel Tree and Adopt-A-School programs.
Church and Society Ministry
Church & Society assists individuals in relating the Gospel of Jesus Christ to community and world relationships into conformity with the will of God, demonstrating that God’s reconciliation through Christ involves personal, social and civic righteousness.
Habitat for Humanity
Atlanta Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit ecumenical housing ministry that helps Atlanta families achieve the American dream of homeownership. Each year, Cascade United Methodist Church partners with Glen Memorial United Methodist Church to sponsor and build at least one home for a deserving family who is selected by Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. Men and women from both churches volunteer their time on seven consecutive Saturdays to build the home from the ground up. No expertise is required to volunteer.
The Homeless ministry serves hot meals every Thursday with the exception of 5th Thursdays at the Peachtree & Pine Street Shelter located downtown. Volunteers prepare & cook the meals in the Cascade Church kitchen each Thursday. We partner with various churches within the Atlanta Metro area to have a Picnic in the Park Rally each year.
The Legal Ministry brings together a network of Cascade members who are attorneys, judges, paralegals, law enforcement officers and others in related careers to serve the church by conducting a Law and Justice Day Worship Service in June. The ministry also coordinates and/or provides legal assistance to Cascade members, coordinates legal education activities for the church such as law fairs and legal career workshops and supports fellow members through Christian love and service.
Missions is about growing our faith in God’s power by obeying Christ, sharing Christ, and relying on Christ. The primary goal of the Missions Ministry is to transform lives and transform communities. Ultimately, we believe we are “called to practice deeds of mercy, compassion, and respond to all forms of human need as we present ourselves.” As God’s visible partners, we proclaim the Word and practice Jesus’ example of encouraging, serving, healing, feeding, and teaching those who may or may not be in the Church. We achieve our purpose through exposing members and volunteers to opportunities to support and participate in local, national and global community projects.
Prison Ministry (Restoring Hope)
The prison ministry helps women who are leaving prison to become successful and empowered individuals by addressing their transitional needs in the areas of housing, employment, education, training, counseling, mentoring, and child development assistance. We will serve as change agents to help women obtain their goals of becoming positive and productive contributors to society.
To encourage growth spiritually, physically and mentally by helping persons build character and ethical values, establish and achieve their goals, endure through life’s tough times and making available experiences that will allow people to meet more people and broaden their horizons.
