

As a light in the community, Cascade United Methodist Church seeks to support our surrounding community with rent, mortgage and utilities via our Community Fund.
To be considered for Community Funds, applicants must:
- Applicants must be at least 30 days behind
- Reside in Fulton or Dekalb County
- Live in their current home or apartment for a minimum of 12 months
- Provide proof of employment or stable income
- Submit a complete application with supporting documents, including any requested identification or documentation

I need rental or mortgage assistance, what are my next steps?
Rental/Mortgage Assistance Criteria

Maximum Assistance Amount: $1,000.00

Applicants must:

Reside in Fulton or DeKalb County

Have lived at their current residence for at least 12 months

Be at least one month behind on rent to be considered

Provide proof of ability to manage future expenses

If your outstanding balance exceeds $1,000, you must provide a clear plan or proof of how the remaining balance will be paid before your application can be considered.

The application must include your Property Manager or Leasing Agent’s name and contact information.

Note: If you meet the required criteria, your Property Manager/Leasing Agent will be asked to submit a General Ledger and W-9.

Can I apply for Mortgage/Rental assistance and Utility assistance?
Yes.
How long will it take for my application to be processed?
Once a complete application packet is received, please allow up to 21 days for a response to your application.
Each application will have its own specific requirements in addition to those listed above. A member of the Community Fund Team will notify you of any required documentation if you are being considered for Community Fund assistance.
What is considered proof of employment?
As part of the Community Fund application process, all applicants must provide two (2) valid forms of current income verification. This information helps demonstrate the ability to manage ongoing expenses and maintain financial stability.
- Two to four (2–4) of your most recent pay stubs
- Recent bank statements showing direct deposits from your employer (must clearly indicate the employer’s name)
- An official employer letter on company letterhead, stating your position, start date, and employment status, including the issuer’s contact information
- An employment verification form issued by HR or payroll, including the issuer’s contact information
- Verifiable proof of consistent self-employment income (for independent contractors or freelancers)
- Pension, retirement, or government assistance income (e.g., disability, Social Security), issued to and for the named applicant, and showing the monthly income amount
Important: All documents must be legible and submitted as scanned PDFs or clear screenshots/photos.
What if I start my application, but can’t finish it?
You can start your application, save it and return to complete it a later time if needed.
Application must be submitted with documentation by the end of the submission period.
What happens once I apply for assistance?
Once an application is completed and submitted, you will receive a notification of receipt.
Once the Community Fund Team member reviews and verifies your information, you’ll receive an email confirming that we are reviewing your application, requesting additional information, or informing you of our ability to fund or not fund your need.
Please note that sending an application does not guarantee approval.

May I pick the application up from the church?
What if my bill is higher than the amount the Community Fund can cover?
As a reminder, the maximum assistance for mortgage or rental assistance is $1000 and is a maximum of $350 for utility assistance.
Cascade UMC’s Community Fund will pay a portion of rent, mortgage, or utility bills to help applicants maintain stable housing. However, applicants must prove they are able to pay the rent, mortgage, or utility balance before Cascade UMC will release any funds to the landlord, mortgage company or utility provider.
Payment arrangements with your landlord or mortgage company must be in writing and verified by a member of the Community Fund Team.
Can I get a letter verifying that I did not qualify for financial assistance?
